Four legs good, two legs better!

Many will surely remember the mindless sheep in Orwell’s Animal Farm—the ones who repeatedly chant “Four legs good, two legs bad” to drown out dissent and reinforce the pigs’ control. The sheep do not need to think critically; they simply parrot the phrases they are taught, ensuring that the ruling elite face little opposition in their power struggle with the humans. Their simplistic, unquestioning loyalty plays a crucial role in maintaining the pigs’ dominance, even as conditions on the farm deteriorate.

SIGNALGATE

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth inadvertently shared sensitive military plans in a Signal group chat that included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg. The chat detailed imminent U.S. airstrikes against Yemen’s Houthi rebels, including specific targets and timing.

So what happens when Trump’s minions make a blunder the size of the White House—one that, ironically, exposes who is truly “pathetic” and utterly incompetent for the task they were entrusted with? Does Hegseth admits fault? Of course not. Instead, he doubles down. “This only proves one thing: Jeff Goldberg has never seen a war plan or an “attack plan” (as he now calls it). Not even close,” Pete Hegseth posted. “We will continue to do our job, while the media does what it does best: peddle hoaxes.” Trumpism at its very best. The Donald trained them well!

And what about Trump’s most ardent supporters? If one listens to figures like Will Cain will come away enlightened. If you look at the actual content of what was reported, says Cain, if you look at how they discussed potential strikes on Houtis in Yemen, what you will see is dialogue between Vice-President J.D. Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth […] in a very collaborative, open, honest, team-based attempt to get to the right decision after years of secrecy and incompetence. And in case he was not clear enough, Cain concluded that if you read the content of these messages you will come away proud that these are the leaders!. OORAH!

Of course, not all Trump supporters fit this mold, just as not all characters in Animal Farm blindly follow Napoleon. But then again, exceptions often prove the rule. Returning to Orwell, when the pigs finally walk on two legs, what do the sheep chant? “Four legs good, two legs better!” The world is full of sheep—not just in the U.S., but everywhere—and this is a chilling thought.
